Dr. Kaustubh Nande is responsible for driving country marketing function for ANSYS. This includes all four business units, key industry verticals and flagship product lines cutting across large accounts, mid-market & channel within India. Under his leadership ANSYS has won CIO Review Magazine ‘Company of the Year’ award in Engineering and Design category consecutively for past two years (2014, 2015). Presently he is championing the ‘Make in India’, ‘Skill India’ and ‘IoT’ campaigns for ANSYS in the region while actively interacting with industry leaders, technical members, and working closely with ANSYS global Industry Directors. Prior to ANSYS Dr. Nande taught at Ohio University and Towson University. He holds a Ph.D. in Relating and Organizing from Ohio University, USA. Dr. Nande is also a member of the Board of Directors at Airaavat Technologies.
ELE Times : What is the latest EDA tool your company is offering focusing on IC Design and how it is different from its predecessors?
Dr Kaustubh Nande : Design Complexities are growing at an exponential rate in the recent years and simulating an integrated circuit or mainly, the integrated chip-packaging system requires multi-domain analysis. It also generated massive amounts of data. Traditional electronic design automation (EDA) solutions based on 25-year-old monolithic database architectures have scaled poorly: They can analyze only one domain at a time and require dedicated computer systems with powerful processors and excessive memory requirements. Designers must often sacrifice accuracy for efficiency, as a solution can take hours, days or even weeks to generate.
ANSYS is fundamentally transforming the way simulation is performed today. Our solutions help engineers design innovative electrical and electronic products faster and more cost-effectively than ever before. Whether it’s a computer chip, a circuit board, a cell phone, an electronic component in an automobile or an entire communications system, ANSYS software can help design better products.
Some of the ANSYS tools for example, PowerArtist- helps with early power analysis and enables high-impact design decisions. RedHawk is the de facto standard power integrity and reliability solution, which accurately predicts chip power and noise using voltage drop simulation analysis for the entire power delivery network (PDN), from chip to package to board. SeaScape, is a recently launched product based on big data architecture with scalable server computation, which redefines EDA architecture. As you can see taken as a whole ANSYS solutions reduce design time from weeks to hours, while increasing accuracy and enabling in-design performance with actionable feedback.
ELE Times : What is your company doing for eliminating the dilemma in terms of cost for design engineers who needs entry-level desktop solutions that are fast to pick up but limited in capability?
Dr Kaustubh Nande : The ANSYS Workbench platform is the backbone for delivering a comprehensive and integrated simulation system to our customers. This electronics desktop environment provides ANSYS gold-standard electromagnetics simulation applications with unprecedented ease of use for setup and solution of complex simulations for design and optimization. It is also the native desktop for other related ANSYS product such as HFSS, Maxwell, Q3D Extractor and, Simplorer. Workbench gives engineers access to multi-physics and systems level insights that could not be attained before. Using Workbench for product development simulations consistently results in higher productivity from integrated applications leveraging common and compatible data models. IT organizations also realize greater reliability, lower support costs and lower total cost of ownership because our platform addresses the hardware, software and data compatibility problems encountered with using many standalone applications.
