Samsung Develops New Network Technology to Boost Massive MIMO Performance

Samsung has developed a new mobile network technology called Mobility Enhancer that is claimed to improve the beamforming performance of its Massive MIMO radios, a critical component of 4G and 5G networks, up to 30 per cent in a mobile environment, the South Korean company said.The field trial conducted on Samsung’s testbed leveraged in-house Massive MIMO radio along with the new Mobility Enhancer technology. Powered by Samsung’s AI and advanced signal processing technology, Mobility Enhancer will enable the company’s Massive MIMO radio to improve the accuracy of beamforming towards a moving user for maximized mobile experiences for users in both 4G and 5G network environments. For instance, utilizing the new technology, users can experience boosted performance while they are walking on a street.

Samsung revealed its plans to apply the innovative Mobility Enhancer technology to its Massive MIMO radios through a software upgrade offered in the global market this year.
