MES Expo to debut in Berlin to provide the first international platform to electrical suppliers

From 5 to 7 November 2019 the MES Expo will be making its debut on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The primary aim of this trade fair is to provide electrical suppliers with the first international platform for an interdisciplinary dialogue. With exhibitors from all areas of mobility the MES Expo provides its trade visitors and exhibitors with an overview of many different markets as well as creating the space for shared synergies.

At the beginning of October three scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for their research into lithium-ion batteries. Their research is essential for making continued progress in digitalisation as well as providing the basis for a world without fossil fuels. Electrical suppliers in particular will benefit from this situation. Their importance for mobility is rapidly changing due to the emergence of new, digital opportunities.

The global market leader CRRC is using the MES Expo to present to the world its new rail signalling system; with their innovative charging technology HARTING Technology and KUKA are presenting microSNAP, a self-driving means of transport. The display by Schaltbau GmbH at the MES Expo includes one particular highlight: “While retaining comparable performance features we have improved our DC contactors, making them more compact, more modular and more efficient. In this way Schaltbau is fundamentally meeting the requirements imposed by e-mobility. We are introducing our latest innovation at MES Expo: the Series C310 DC contactor”, explains Christian Meyer, Marketing Director for Schaltbau GmbH.

With its intelligent and digital LED solution ISELED, INOVA Semiconductors is also among the exhibitors at MES Expo. The start-up plc-tec is showing trade visitors its latest innovation, PTB, which is a highly reliable source of real-time power line communication for transferring critical data via the power distribution network on freight trains.

Dinghan SMART Railway Technology has expanded the product portfolio of its SMARTconverter range with the inclusion of on-board power converters with an input voltage of 3 kV DC for use on regional, intercity and high speed trains. With this development Dinghan SMART is relying on the proven technology of medium frequency potential isolation.

“The creative potential of all our exhibitors at MES Expo clearly demonstrates the dynamic changes taking place in the field of mobility. I hope that this three-day event will prove to be inspiring for our exhibitors, trade visitors and participants in the supporting programme”, says Lisa Höfer, the project manager of MES Expo.

In addition to the extensive range being presented by the exhibitors, the three partner associations of MES Expo will be presenting the latest topics each day as part of the supporting programme. On the opening day, at the Dialogue Forum in Hall 1.2., the ZVEI will be discussing the subject of ‘The electrical industry as an enabler for the changes in mobility’. In addition to the presentation of the new study entitled ‘ZVEI vision of the future power distribution network’, contributors including the representatives of Siemens Mobility, Mitsubishi Motors Europe and Bombardier Transportation will be giving insights into their future plans in the mobility field. On the second day the VDB and its experts will be using the slogan ‘Rail 4.0: Innovations by the rail industry for the digital and intermodal mobility of the future’ for a presentation of the digital development opportunities available to the rail industry. On the final day of the event, under the title ‘Connected mobility and climate protection – Why digitalisation leads to improvements in transport’, the DVF will be focusing on the potential and the challenges for the mobility sector in the age of climate change.

Other important aspects of the MES Expo include the Procurement Center concept from Deutsche Bahn and Speakers’ Corner in Hall 2.2. As well as established companies such as Deutsche Bahn and Siemens Mobility, the integrated Start-Up Pavilion will feature ambitious new businesses with their visions for a smart and climate-neutral mobility.
