    Enlarging India’s security with forward-thinking technology and solutions

    Genetec has continued to strengthen its roots in the Indian surveillance market and is upbeat about the security arena of India.  As a technology company, Genetec develops and provides unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions. It also develops cloud-based solutions and services designed to improve security and contribute to new levels of operational intelligence. ELE Times’ Nikita Sharma caught up with Anand Thirunagari, Business Development Manager, Genetec, India, to understand the firm’s strategy on the latest solutions and the market growth plans. Excerpts:

    ELE Times: Give us a brief on some of the technologies, and solutions which Genetec is working on.

    Anand: As a company we have always pioneered and believed in delivering innovations in the areas of Security, operations and intelligence. Our Unified platform Security Center is the central nervous system which empower organizations through enhanced situational awareness, unified command and control and connectivity to the cloud.

    Our recent launch in the Intelligence portfolio Citigraf is a decision support system that unifies public safety operations across city departments, disseminates timely information, and provides greater situational awareness.

    Followed with Traffic Sense, a traffic operations platform that combines incident identification, verification, management and communication into a single Unified platform. It unifies security devices, traffic systems and incident response platforms in a single solution, allowing automation of actions, visualize data and act quickly to resolve traffic congestion. Built on a versatile open architecture platform, Traffic Sense continuously improves procedures and brings in new technologies as they emerge, so that the system evolves with traffic needs.

    ELE Times: Genetec has set up technologies like unified security, public safety and it’s sure that many other firms out there would be working on similar technologies. How would you differentiate yourself from some of your competitors?

    Anand: Many of our competitors deal with Security, operations and intelligence as silos and mostly are proprietary in nature. We at Genetec through our Unified platform Security Center, blends IP security systems within a single intuitive interface for simplifying operations. From access control, video surveillance, automatic license plate recognition, intrusion detection and analytics. Security Center empowers organizations through enhanced situational awareness, unified command control and connectivity to the cloud.

    Genetec as thought leader, works diligently to inform and act as a trusted leader so that our collective knowledge and experience propels us forward. We build secure and compliant solutions that help protect everyone’s privacy, without compromising security in the areas of Cyber security or “Security of Security”. This entails continuous learning from our customers, technology partners, helping us to gain a deep understanding of an organization’s cybersecurity needs.

    Our cloud first approach for all of our products and solution offerings followed with on premises subscription models provides the most innovative and wide business models available in the industry for Channels and SI ‘s to engage with Genetec. This is how we differentiate our techno commercial offerings.

    ELE Times: Please shed light on Genetec’s growth plans for the Indian market.

    Anand: Genetec in India has grown over 550% in the FY 2018 and is in the mission of executing its strategy in the areas of increasing market footprint, large customer acquisitions and finest customer experience. In this mission more, resources are added in the areas of support, pre-sales and sales organization with in Country. Genetec in India is aiming to be among the top 3 contributors for the APAC revenues.

    ELE Times: What is the company’s vision in India for next five years?

    Anand: Genetec will continue to invest in India over the next five years. We have established a strong foundation for growth and will build a support centre for APAC base in India. Beyond Sales and Marketing, Support infrastructure is critical to sustain growth. The talented pool of human resources may lead us to many possibilities including setting up a centre for Independent Software Vendors to integrate their product to Genetec. Genetec is an innovative and agile company looking to deliver a clever flow of products to the India market.

    ELE Times: What are the key verticals Genetec is targeting in India?

    Anand: Some of the key verticals we are targeting in India are Smart Cities, Building & Infrastructure and Public Transit Systems.

    ELE Times: What challenges till now have come across your path that you think really acted as barriers in the technology aspects.

    Anand: India is a maturing market, but it is also a very price sensitive market. It takes time for Global and premium brands like Genetec to adapt and execute our Vision. Education and skill enhancements are some of the key ingredients for our success in this market and we will strive to achieve that in coming months and years.

    ELE Times: What products are you planning to introduce with the industry? What markets are you targeting this time? 

    Anand: We had multiple product launches this year. Traffic Sense, a product from our intelligence bucket is focused towards efficient flow of people, vehicles, and goods throughout cities. Citigraf which came out this year, is a decision support system suited for law enforcement, emergency services, and public safety agencies. Genetec also came out with Retail Sense for the retail sector. All our products are about developing relevant data of all the information coming from security solutions.
